I belong to a lovely bunch of people on the internet. We are all making the same quilt. It has over 5000 pieces. One person has a list of us on the side bar of her blog, she is the head cheer-leader on this massive project

Unfortunately, I don't want to mention its (the quilt) name, as there seems to be confusion over when and where the name, and the image of the quilt can be used, and what infringes copyright.

When I first saw a picture of this particular quilt, I was drawn to it. Then I found out that there was a book and a set of templates to help make each block, so I bought them

I joined a mailing list to get support and help in making this particular quilt, I have unsubscribed from that group. It was fine for the motivation, it just didn't have pictures.

Did I mention that I am a visual learner??

Anyways, the upshoot is that I now have a lovely long and convoluted blog name, and am hoping that the woman that is cheering us on continues to do so.

Quickie post time

one more seam and I will have 25 blocks, and a ranking of "Silver Jane"

Hopefully, I will post a list before Christmas, and another block or two before New Year's Eve.

I am looking forward to the "making" journey (after another bout of anxiety/depression), and in the spirit of Jane A. Stickle, "finished is better than perfect"

I have joined a "real" group at a shop (Attic Quilts, Berwick, Victoria) and , as you seee on my sidebar, the "Virtual" Jane group.

Have now done 16 blocks, will have to get serious and update the numbers soon.

but am plugging away, and the above quilt gives me hope of a finish............one day

Background fabric....it is MEANT to be all stained and used like!!

I also begged some index cards from DH.....will record each block, and each fabric I use.

I am re-inspired by the blogging community.

I had previously begun no less than three Dear Jane inspired quilts. None of them have been finished.

I wasn't very happy with the first two, my seam marking were too noticable.

The third was started two years ago, before baby #9 was born. I wanted that quilt to be something special, and started it with 30's reproduction fabrics I had "on hand". Since then, the background I had chosen (a very nice white Muslin) has been discontiued. What the store now sells as Muslin is vastly different.

Fourth time lucky.......

Mt latest attempt will use reproduction fabrics from around the time of the American Civil War.

I chose a new background, it is worn and stained looking, but a new fabric. Still have to check that I can get enough for the whole quilt.

This time too, I will gather extra supplies, the CD-ROM, so I can print templates, and a bag/box especially for this project

Perhaps Santa will even bring some fabrics for the quilt!
